Did you know you can use Annie Sloan Graphite and Black Soft Wax to get a black finish?
I am using this drawer as an example. Even though it is raw would, I didn't sand or prime it. I pretty much wiped it down with a towel to remove the dust and started painting. I wasn't worried about making it perfect, I like a few flaws. In the video below, however, you can see I used long strokes. This was to demonstrate how to get a smoother finish.
It typically takes about 30 minutes to dry. Don't worry if it takes a little longer. After it is completely dry, I apply the Black Wax.
Apply enough wax that it covers well, but you don't have to overdo it. Once the first coat of wax is applied, use a lint free cloth to wipe it down and rub the wax in. You are essentially wiping the excess off. After you have finished, apply another coat of wax, this time leaving on for at least 30 minutes, then buff. Ta-Da Black!!
